Truck Rental for Moving
Considering a truck rental for moving? It is a wise decision for most who are moving. But if you rent a self moving truck then you must either provide all the labor yourself (not advised) or hire movers. I suggest a combination of both. After well over 25 moves, I have discovered this combo works well: - pack everything yourself
- Rent a moving truck for 2 days: Day one you move all the boxes and small items. Day 2, hire labor to move all the large/heavy items.
This way you do not tire all your family friends. We found 2 guys online who worked for 4 hours at $25/hour. So the $100 was well worth it. That with the cost of our budget moving van, it was under $500.
Our experiences:
A 2500 square foot house:
1. A moving company did it all for $1200
2. Us moving it all no labor $400: took us 3 days and we were completely exhausted for 2 weeks.
3. Us moving boxes, hiring labor for big items: $450 and by far the best move thus far.
